Posts: 0 (05/04/01 21:30:44) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Hi all: I'm currently seeking a Percheron for use as a riding horse, and wondering if anyone could tell me some bloodlines to watch for, as I'm unfamiliar with the "best" ones. I'm looking for the lighter-boned Percheron stallions, and have noticed two such stallions' names mentioned here: Justamere Showtime and King Cong. Are there any others that I should keep an eye for on the pedigrees in my search? Thanks in advance! :-)

Both of the stallions you mentioned are huge. These are top stallions in the breed because they have large hitchy type foals. How big of a horse are you looking for? 16 hands, 17, 18? just curious,.

I previously owned a Percheron/Appaloosa cross that was 16.1hh, and I even made him look small. :-/ I had the opportunity, once, to ride a 17.3hh TB gelding, and it was the first time I really felt like I was on a horse that fit me and was able to take all my leg. Also, I was under the assumption, after reading some of the posts on this board, that JS and KC bloodlines tended to be lighter-boned and perhaps a bit less "blocky" than some other Percheron lines; I apologize if this assumption was incorrect.

Showtime has been dead for quite awhile though. If i was looking for a good percheron, i'd be looking at the older breeders in your area. The newer , hitch style might be more to your liking but i'll take the older style that have less conformation issues and nicer dispositions
